Some of you may already know this but for those that don’t, I have officially moved to New York. I moved about 5 months ago, but am just now really feeling settled. Let’s back up a bit though… I was living in Los Angeles and having the time of my life; I was working at Forever 21 as their Head of Social Media and although I learned a ton and was doing really well, I simply did not feel challenged. My entire life had been about LA, I grew up there, went to University there and started my career there. I knew the city like the back of my hand, but the one thing you should know about me is I like a challenge. So I decided to look elsewhere.
It was down to two positions in New York – and I opted for L’Oreal Paris because I knew I needed not only a change in location but also wanted to expand my skillset. Sure, it was going to be hard to leave my family and mom, especially since my grandma passed last summer but I knew this was something I had to do for me. I am now the Director of Social Media for L’Oreal Paris with a focus on Hair Care, Color and Style. It’s a super exciting role in an entirely new industry which is neat. I absolutely love what I do and I love the team that is there. I feel really blessed to be doing what I love and for the world’s #1 beauty brand.
I moved into my own studio apartment in Chelsea and am completely obsessed with it. I’m spoiled with a 4 minute walk to work and there are some amazing restaurants and bars nearby – not to mention the High Line which is my favorite thing ever. My adjustment has been pretty good – minus the whole dressing for cold weather thing (I still haven’t figured out). I very quickly made a good solid group of friends, which has been nice. I haven’t really gotten into the dating life here, but I probably need to if I ever want a boyfriend – haha. All in all, I have to say this has been an amazing experience so far and I’m excited to see where it goes. Starting over can be pretty scary (and expensive) but once you do it, you realize it’s not so scary.
I promise I’ll take the time to write on her more. I forgot how therapeutic it is. I’m heading off to Paris Fashion Week next week, so as soon as I get back, I’ll post a trip recap on here. Stay tuned and thanks for listening to me.
